Design of Experiments Basics

eLearning Price: $ 55

In this course you learn how to design, conduct, and analyze basic statistical experiments. We begin with the backbone of DOE which is ANOVA. In a building block format we progress from 1 factor up to 3 factors with interactions.

Full Description

Design of Experiments Basics covers the tools required to conduct relatively simple experiments. The concepts of ANOVA, analysis of variance, and its role in hypothesis testing are introduced first. Then you will learn how to conduct small full factorial experiments which allow you to study interactions without any fear of confounding. As part of the course you will conduct a hypothesis test, a two factor designed experiment, and a three factor designed experiment.

Support materials are available as a download in zip format. We provide files ready to use in the following formats: MS Office Suite OpenOffice.org

Spreadsheet tools are provided that will conduct all analyses that are covered in this course. If you do not have MS Office, follow our partner links to OpenOffice.Org and download the free suite of productivity tools. If you don't have Minitab Statistical Software download a 30 day free trail from our partners page. Minitab Statistical Software will be taught with both screen shots and videos so you will quickly learn the software tool.

There are lots of interactive exercises and exams. There will be a Course Final Exam, which upon completion you will be given a Course Completion Certificate. This course is worth 3.5 CEU credit hours.

How Much Data do I Need?

That is an excellent question that can either have an exacting answer or one that is ambiguous.  Formulas exist to calculate an exact answer to the question except that until you collect some data you won’t know the values for some of the variables in the equation.  In both cases, either...
